finally, a family suv fit to wear the ferrari badge! 2023 pursoangue sticks it to lamborghini urus as v12-powered crossover
Powered by a V12 engine, the Ferrari Pursoangue should get the kids to school in record time.

Ferrari now offers a family SUV for well-heeled buyers who want to cart their kids around in the pinnacle of ultra-luxury and performance in the form of the all-new Pursoganue.

Designed to steal sales away from high-end performance crossovers like the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-AMG GLS, the Ferrari’s party piece will be its petrol-powered V12 engine.

The naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 punches out 533kW and 716Nm, features with components borrowed from the 812 Competizone, and with drive sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

For reference, the only other V12-powered car in its class is the Bentley Bentayga Speed, which features a 467kW/900Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine, enabling a 0-100km/h run in 3.9s.

The most powerful Lamborghini Urus is the Performante, which uses a 490kW/850Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, and matches the Pursoganue in the landmark acceleration time.

However, the Ferrari Pursoganue isn’t all about speed, as the Italian brand points out the petrol V12 engine is mid-front mounted for a 49:51 weight distribution.

That combines with a carbon-fibre roof, four-wheel steering and an aerodynamically optimised body for what promises to be an engaging drive even around a racetrack.

And to further ensure its performance pedigree, the Ferrari SUV features the latest version of the brand’s vehicle dynamic control software that tweaks the four-wheel steering, traction and chassis control system, as well as active suspension.

But we all expect a Ferrari to have plenty of hustle, what is new about the Pursoganue is its practicality.

As standard there are four seats (all with heating), and to add practicality but not detract from the swoopy, coupe-like design, the Purosangue has freestyle rear doors like a Mazda MX-30, but kicks it up a notch by being electronically operated.

According to Ferrari, “we focused on offering as much ingress space as possible”.

Boot space isn’t yet being divulged, so we don’t know if you can fit a full-sized stroller, but it is electronically operated and the rear seats can be folded down to increase storage volume, finally making a Bunnings trip in a Ferrari possible.

And like in any family car, the Pursoganue boasts a wide array of safety tech, including autonomous emergency braking, active cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, a reversing camera and driver attention alert.

Hill decent control will also feature on the Pursoganue – a first for Ferrari.

Inside, the Purosangue features a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a Burmester sound system and leather interior, but buyers can also option a bulletproof, ballistic fabric for the upholstery.

Australian pricing is yet to be revealed, but expect a big pricetag when the Purosangue hits local showrooms in late 2023.
