The game lets you summon Marth as a stand

fire emblem engage revealed for nintendo switch

After months of leaks and rumors, the latest game in the Fire Emblem series has been officially announced at the recent Nintendo Direct under the name of Fire Emblem Engage.

The most notable feature of the game is that old Fire Emblem heroes can be summoned and equipped with units to fight alongside them as spirit-like guardians, kind of like stands from Jojo.

You can check out the trailer below:

“Become the Divine Dragon and save the continent of Elyos! Use hero-summoning strategies to defeat an ancient threat in a brand-new Fire Emblem game. Summon valiant heroes like Marth & Celica alongside a new cast of characters and engage in turn-based, tactical combat against a great evil in this new Fire Emblem story.”

As detailed in the previous leaks, the game is a collaboration between Fire Emblem developer Intelligent Systems as well as Koei Tecmo, and Gust. The former helped develop the Fire Emblem Warriors spin-off series and the latter makes the Atelier games.

The main character is a member of the noble dragon clan and seems to want to be the Switch’s mascot with their split red and blue hair.

Like previous Fire Emblem protagonists, they can be either male or female but unlike Fire Emblem Three Houses protagonist Byleth, they seem to not be a silent protagonists as they talk during the trailer.

Fire Emblem Engage will release for the Nintendo Switch. A release date was not announced but it is likely that it’ll release sometime next year in 2023.
