Google has announced a few updates regarding its work on emojis on Android as well as other Google products. These include Unicode 15 emoji additions, animated versions of Android’s emojis and more!

In a blog post by Google’s Creative Director of emoji and Emoji Kitchen Chef Jennifer Daniel, Google shows off its designs for 21 new emojis from Unicode 15. Moreover, Google said that the emojis will be added to AOSP “in the coming weeks” and will arrive in Android starting via updates starting December 2022.

Besides that, Google is also releasing its first official animated versions of the emoji used in Android. Not all emoji are supported, though, but the nearly 200 different animated emojis should come in handy in your chats and can be found on Google’s website.

Google is also releasing a coloured version of its “Noto Emoji” font, an open-source emoji font that can be used online that are utilised by Chrome and other Google products. Previously, the font only supported emoji in black-and-white, but now, Google is bringing a splash of colours to it.

The blog post also announced GoogleMs support for colour-changing emojis, which you can view here. However, you do need to run the latest version of Chrome for it to work.
