Google’s all-new Chromecast with Google TV (HD) is finally official, and it is cheaper than ever, suitable for folks who do not really bother getting 4K resolution support.

The base-model Chromecast took a couple of years before getting an upgrade. But now, the wait is finally over as Google introduced it with Google TV.

Google’s new Chromecast with Google TV is here. It comes with 4K variant, along with a much cheaper priced base-model.

New Chromecast with Google TV (HD)

The tech giant has introduced a new cheap Chromecast that now comes with all the good stuff that Google TV readily offers its users.

As per the latest report by Arstechnica, Google debuted the first Chromecast with Google TV back in 2020. However, it was a much higher-end model, thus its price tag significantly higher than the entry-level streaming device.

But this time, the renowned tech giant decided to give the base model a massive upgrade, bringing Google TV to a much more affordable price point.

It turns out that Google TV is actually the direct replacement of what was known as Android TV, Arstechnica notes in its story. And as such, the new Chromecast provides users with a pretty similar experience to smart TV users.

What to Expect from Chromecast with Google TV (HD)

Thanks to the Google TV upgrade, the entry-level streaming device now brings a full-blown home screen, which lets users access various apps or download straight from the Play Store. It also enables multiple accounts to sign in.

So if you are living with other folks at home, you could easily open your profile that suits your viewing interests. It prevents irrelevant movies or series from popping out of nowhere.

But despite all these upgrades, the new Chromecast still acts like the old one.

This illustration picture shows the US multinational technology and Internet-related services company Google logo displayed on a tablet in Paris on February 18, 2019.

It is worth noting that the previous base variant only acts as a streaming stick, which lets users stream videos from their smartphones. However, the all-new version knows its old tricks by simply pressing the Chromecast button from its remote.

And all of this comes with a surprisingly cheap price tag of only $29.99. Google is selling its new Chromecast (HD) for roughly $30, but it has yet to support the stunning 4K resolution. That said, this new offering might better suit those who have yet to upgrade their TVs at home – similar to folks that would prefer the cheaper Xbox Series X.

Chromecast with Google TV (HD) vs. Chromecast with Google TV (4K)

First off, the Google Store notes that the 4K version and the HD counterpart differ mainly on the resolution that it supports. The latter could only get as high as 1080p HDR, while the higher-end option comes with 4K HDR.

But the rest are pretty much the same between the two. There’s Google TV and a remote. Sure, the 4K costs hefty at $49.99.
