We're in the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S. And that means this wagon has up to 750 horsepower with launch control, and we're at a drag strip. So we're gonna see just how quickly we can accelerate from zero to 60 miles an hour, and also see how fast it is in the quarter mile. So let's get going. (upbeat rock guitar music) So the first pass is just gonna be a kinda, hey let's get to know each other type thing, not gonna use launch control, and then I'm gonna come back and we'll use launch control and see what we can do. We are at 91% state of charge and the battery temperature is at 90 degrees. (car engine revs as speed is increasing) Well, that felt really good. All right. So coming back to the line, we are going to attempt launch control. So let me get out the instructions. All right, launch control is battery temperature over 80 degrees for optimum conditions, but it'll work down to 60. Battery temperature is at 90, state of charge over 80%. Good we're at 90. Launch control will work down to 40%. Place the car in sport plus mode. We're already there. Left foot hard on the brake to the floor, right foot hard on the accelerator to the floor, confirm launch control and release break. All right, let's do it. Whoa. (car engine revs up as speed increases rapidly) 10.50? 10.50. Whoa, that knocked the half second off with launch control. I mean, it kinda makes sense. You're going from 600 and teen something horsepower to 750. That's quite the jump and it's, well, one of the most effortless ten second runs I've ever ran, and at the top end of the track, it's just so smooth. It's really something else. So we'll give you one more run, but that is wild. (car engine revs as speed increases) (laughs) Oh man. All right, so launch control 10.50 at 131 miles an hour. Now we're gonna check that zero to 60 mile an hour time, and see how close we came to 2.7. All right, and our best zero to 60 was a 2.9. So I did feel a little wheel spin using launch control, but still 2.9, 0 to 60 quarter mile in 10.5. And it's a very different experience going that fast in the Taycan versus something like a Hellcat, where we've ran 10.80s before on street tires, it's just totally effortless, and the top end of the track is just so smooth. So this car has a two speed transmission and you can feel that shift around 40-50 miles an hour or so, but after that, it is just pull, pull, pull and it is so smooth, ridiculously smooth.
